On September 25, 2020, the Binance cryptocurrency exchange received an official notification from Roskomnadzor, according to which it was included in the list of sites prohibited in Russia. Due to the fact that it allows you to purchase Bitcoin cryptocurrency.
What is important - until this moment, the exchange did not received any warnings from Roskomnadzor or messages from representatives of law enforcement agencies. There was also no information from the court representatives about the existence of any claims or decisions on the initiated cases. So, at least, Binance representatives say. Who intends to appeal this decision, for which they turned to lawyers.
According to the statement of the director of Binance in the Russian Federation - Gleb Kostarev, the company values its reputation in the Russian markets, so it will seek the cancellation of the imposed restrictions in court. And before that - look for alternative options for technical interaction. At the same time, Russian clients will continue to receive services in the prescribed volume, and nothing threatens their funds.
And one more important point - “binance.com” is not found in the officially published register of prohibited sites. According to some experts, this may be due to the fact that the public upload does not keep up with the real state of affairs in the registry. There have already been many cases when sites were first blocked, and only then their owners found out - because of what exactly.
In general, the situation in Russia with cryptocurrencies is rather sad. While the whole world is working on mastering the digital economy, laws are being issued in the Russian Federation, for example, "On digital financial assets", which actually prohibit payments for various services and goods with cryptocurrency, as well as disseminate information about such offers. At the same time, it is known that representatives of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation also proposed to introduce criminal liability for undeclared cryptocurrency assets. That is, yes - you cannot use it, but you will have to pay extra for possession.
Binance, however, are not the only representatives of the cryptocurrency space, faced with the peculiarities of Russian legislation. Before them, the LocalBitcoins mirror, the Bestchange portal and the cryptocurrency news site Coinpost were blocked. And even before that - in 2017, the Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg illegally recognized the information contained on 40 sites belonging to some large bitcoin exchangers on the territory of the Russian Federation.
We will not discuss the effectiveness, or rather, the complete ineffectiveness of such methods of working with cryptocurrency, which was specially created in such a way as to avoid unnecessary regulation by the state. But let us clarify that this tactic, in contrast to the attempts to properly legalize the crypt undertaken in the USA, China and the EU countries, threatens to lead Russia out of the rapidly unfolding "blockchain revolution".
